Intelligent investment
Are your assets appropriately invested for life in France?
We only advise clients after obtaining a clear global picture of their situation and requirements. This includes where they might want to live, expected income, future capital expenditure, appetite for risk, current investments, etc. We then can make recommendations on how to improve returns and reduce taxes. French rental property is often an excellent investment. You should take into account taxes on rents, capital gains, wealth and inheritance. Non-residents should certainly use French mortgages to reduce exposure to wealth tax (ISF). You may also want to consider tax efficient schemes such as de Robien, Malraux or Monument Historique. Please contact us for full details of the rules and obligations France offers excellent vehicles for low tax financial investments. Over a third of the population has an Assurance Vie or a Plan Epargne en Actions (PEA) which are available from most banks. Some try to cover up poor performance by lower entrance charges. You should always focus on the quality of the underlying investments and the returns they are providing. Beware of "funds of funds". Offshore investments are not appreciated by the French authorities. If you have such investments or are wondering what to do with funds outside France, you should take specific steps - preferably well before arriving in France. The use of offshore trusts is complex, but can be appropriate in certain circumstances. As a completely independent advisor, Cabinet Gregory regularly reviews tax efficient financial & property investments available in France and we would be glad to help you select the right investment for your circumstances. We also review French mortgage offers available to foreigners (resident or non-resident) buying property in France. We strongly recommend obtaining advice from qualified professionals with an understanding of both the French and international aspects of investment. We would be glad to assist with any of the above points to ensure a financially stress-free life in France.
